The LINK TWO DC is the missing link for almost any direct in situation that you would normally use a stereo DI box, while adding studio preamp analog weight and warmth to anything plugged in direct into a sound board or audio interface with pedal power DC input for situations not conducive to 48v power. Further optimized for pedal board use, there is a footswitchable MUTE Switch.

The LINK TWO DC
Studio Grade Stereo Direct Instrument Preamp
The LINK TWO is a dual mono channel, or stereo Direct Instrument Preamp box that imparts glorious analog tone onto every instrument you plug in while converting high impedance unbalanced signals to a low impedance balanced signal. It is powered exclusively by 9-18v pedal power, with 18v giving the most headroom while drawing only 100mA.
We think a high quality device should look as good as it sounds so we gave the LINK TWO an unique top label plate laser cut and hand-finished in our Oregon shop, made of solid Cherry wood.

Studio Grade Analog Circuity:
Every MISSING LINK Box is designed with our famous 990 Discrete Opamp input buffer driving a custom made Cinemag transfromer running off high voltage power rails and utilizing only the highest quality Wima MKP capacitors and metal film resistors in the audio path. With Gain and Pad switches set to 0dB it is a unity gain line level box, so it does not reduce the signal by 18dB like a standard DI box.
NOTE: There is no signal loss and you will need 18dB less gain at the console or preamp compared to a normal direct box. If you have to much gain we have provided a pad on the unit but we recommend turning down the preamp gain before using the on board pad.
MUTE FOOTSWITCH:
Not sure why this isn't standard on every DI but a MUTE switch is standard on every MISSING LINK unit. Optimized for live performance on stage, now you can mute your entire rig with your foot to unplug, change guitars or tune. Unplug to save your active pickup batteries or to change out instruments or need troubleshoot the pedal board on the fly, no problem!
MONO SUM SWITCH:
Highly requested feature, allows the user to sum both inputs to mono and sends the same signal to both outputs. Perfect for stereo pedalboards where you may need to adjust on the fly to a mono sound system situation at a gig.
STEREO IN ON TRS:
We added another highly requested feature to this model, an alternative input jack that takes stereo input on TRS for use with pedals that output stereo on TRS, like the TONEX ONE. Ditch to clunky Y-cable!
NOTE: Do not use both the TRS input and the mono inputs at the same time. Also NOTE: This is not a balanced input, but a dual stereo input of two unbalanced signals on TRS, as used by some compact stereo pedals like Strymon and ToneX.
Custom Mod: Contact us if you would like this input to be Mini 1/8th input for an aux channel.
GAIN SWITCH:
This switch sets the gain level of the discrete opamp stage from 0dB, ie unity gain buffer, to +6dB or +12dB. We recommend starting on 0dB, but using the Gain control is perfect for adding studio grade gain to quiet pickups or to juice the transformer for a bit more mojo, just like a studio mic preamp!
PAD:
Reduce the level internally with a three way mini toggle. For unity gain, use the 0dB setting. For extra hot signals or to reduce transformer color, reduce the signal by 9dB or 18dB.
GROUND LIFT:
Solve pesky ground loop hums with a simple flick of the switch.
